Being Still in an Unquiet World

Both Hen and Laurel mentioned the new blog The Sacred Everyday. Check out their comments and then pop on over to read for yourself.

Ann's and Tonia's reflective and contemplative tone has been a perfect follow-on to viewing the recent DVD Be Still. Part of this DVD was shown at the opening service for the silent retreat I participated in last month. I just found it at my public library so I was rewatching part of it and checking out the other chapters this evening.

Reflection and contemplation are so hard to find the time and the absence of interruptions to do effectively. It seems that everybody has an angle for persuading us that their issue merits disturbing our family time, meals, walk in the park, whatever; nothing is sacred anymore. Technology has made it possible to keep in touch more readily with those who live far away, but that same technology has created a cosmic mindset that everyone is expected to be "on call" 24/7. Places like Sacred Everyday stand like lighthouses calling us away from the rocky shoals and into the safe harbor.

Thank you for the link! And what a pleasure to stumble across another person - a stranger to me even - who is hearing my heart. Thank you for the encouragement as Ann and I start out on this new path.

God bless,

Tonia
