Poll: Christmas gift opening

Sorry but I have a thing for polls lately and another topic has emerged that fits the format.

About this time in December the average party talk turns to the topic of when the Christmas gifts are opened. This can become a very complex topic because, while the main stream of American society has a narrow window from Christmas Eve to some time on Christmas Day, there are limitless possibilities for those fringe operators.

Polls, especially unscientific polls, operate best when overly simplified so the options to choose from will not likely be the totally accurate picture of anyone’s gift-opening experience. With that in mind select the closest match to your primary gift opening tradition. The active poll is in the sidebar and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on December 19, 2007. The listing here in the post is for ease of reading. Please vote and comments are also welcome.

Poll: When is your primary Christmas gift opening time?

__ 1) I/we open gifts on Christmas morning, no exceptions.

__ 2) I/we open gifts after returning from Christmas Eve services.

__ 3) I/we open a specially designated gift, like new pajamas, on Christmas Eve but the rest are opened on Christmas morning.

__ 4) I/we alternate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day between our parents and we open each set’s gifts in their presence.

The poll is now closed. An update has been posted.

We're of the alternating variety.

Our German heritage dictates Christmas eve gift opening, no exceptions. Now that both my parents are deceased my husband and I will have to discuss how we will do it. No big gifts anyhow, maybe a trip down south somewhere warm is better...cia
