More Phoenix: Thrashers on guard

Wordless Wednesday . . .

Thrashers in PhoenixThis pair of bird parents isn't at all happy that I'm trying to photograph their family hidden behind the branch. I am fairly certain these are Curved-bill Thrashers but the coloring is unusual and the eyes are quite pronounced. Perhaps this is an example of "leucism" or an incomplete albinism. I am too much of a novice birder to say with certainty. They are beautiful all the same.

This shot was taken with the Canon Rebel 300 and its kit 18-55mm lens I purchased used just before the trip. I definitely need more lens for serious birding.
