Red-tailed Hawk outside my window

Wordless Wednesday . . .

Red-tailed Hawk
This Red-tailed Hawk is scouting for lunch, but the alarm has gone out and all possibilities have gone into hiding.

What a gorgeous bird!! Birds of prey are always so majestic!

When he glides high over the length of the creek that passes by the tree he is in, he is quite a sight. It creates a bit of chaos if there are young critters about like baby Mallards, Grackles, squirrels and chipmunks. There can be quite a cacophony of warning calls competing and overlapping.

I hope the rabbits are hiding!

Lucky you could get a photo. I saw an Eagle in Banff but couldn't get a picture. I love wildlife...ciao

I have seen hawks fly into my yard and the birds and any other animal vanishes. That is a very pretty hawk and lucky you, right outside your window.

@Daisy, - I haven't seen the rabbits since the owner of the shed they nest under started clearing it out earlier in the fall. I am fairly certain the hawk did not get them.

@Rositta - This is a young'un I think and sits longer than I recall raptors sitting.

@Margaret - vanish is definitely the word for it. Maybe someday I'll have a longer lens for this camera and can get an even better shot.
