Wordless Wednesday . . .
These blooms are on a wild wetlands dogwood shrub. I believe it is a Grey Dogwood but don't quote me on that as I wasn't able to get it confirmed.![]()
This one had no blooms but was home to several hundred spittlebugs. Since I did not get a look at the bugs just the spittle I am not sure which species this is. These were a reminder of summers on my grandparents' farm when early mornings while hanging the wash it was common to find dew laden spider webs on the lawn and spittle bugs on leaves and grass.
Hm, this wasn't very wordless was it?

I didn't know we had Dogwoods up here. In Maryville they have an annual Dogwood Festival.
